Hot Spring
Accessible only by boat or floatplane, the Eucott Bay Hot Springs has a main soaking pool constructed of slab blocks and concrete walls.
Eucott Bay Hot Springs is a natural hot springs located on the west coast of British Columbia, Canada. The main soaking pool is made up of three large slab blocks forming the sides, and concrete walls for the front and back. A pipe carries water into the pool, which can be accessed using a ladder and has a plank bench for clothes. Visitors should be aware that the pool may require cleaning due to algae, especially if it hasn't been used in a while. Insect-wise, horseflies can be a nuisance in the summer months, but the fall, winter, and spring are generally insect-free.
There are also several other smaller springs and pools situated along the shores of Eucott Bay Hot Springs, the largest of which is located on the southwest side of the bay, approximately 150 meters from the entrance, close to some rotting pilings. This pool can reach temperatures of up to 41 degrees Celsius and is fed by several hot spots near the high-tide mark. One of the smaller springs feeds a shallow pool that is partly constructed from concrete, although the soaking experience is not as good as in the main pool.
The hot springs are located in a protected marine park, and visitors are asked to respect the fragile ecosystem and to take only memories and photographs. Camping is not permitted at the hot springs, but there are campsites nearby where visitors can stay. The springs are among the largest and best known on the coast and are popular with boaters, as Eucott Bay offers good anchorage and shelter for small craft. Access to the hot springs is restricted to boats or floatplanes, and visitors should take care to leave the area as they found it.
