Nahanni North Hot Springs
Nahanni North Hot Springs
Hot Spring
Two springs on the northeast of Lened Creek, near Drill Lake.
These two springs and several tiny streams can be found in an area around 60m wide on the northeast bank of Lened Creek, some 4km southeast of Drill Lake within the Selwyn Mountains at around 62°22'N and 128°40'W on map 105I/7. This area around 400m east of Lened Creek can be easily spotted from a helicopter due to a general lack of nearby tree growth.
The springs flow from boulders, another possible spotting aid, running clear with a distinct odour of sulphur. Colourful algae growth can be seen in the outflows and minor tufa mounds are also present. Maximum water temperatures in the area of 58°C have been reported.
