St. Agnes Well (Skookumchuck Hot Springs)

Hot Spring

Accessible only to native locals, St. Agnes Well Hot Springs is a tranquil pool surrounded by natural beauty along the Lillooet River.

St. Agnes Well Hot Springs, also known as Skookumchuck Hot Springs, is located in a picturesque setting along the Lillooet River, southeast of Pemberton and Lillooet Lake. A formerly popular weekend escape for Vancouver residents, this site is now closed to the public and only used for cultural purposed by the St'at'imc First Nation.

Previously owned by the Tretheway family, the hot springs are now held in trust by the government for the Inshuck-ch Nation. To reach the springs, travel 35 miles (56 km) south of Mount Currie on the Cariboo Wagon Road, and turn at the BC Hydro tower 682 on the logging road paralleling the Lillooet River. The road is narrow, rough, and potholed, and impassable in winter due to heavy snow, but the serene and unique hot spring experience is worth the drive. Soak in the main tub enclosed in an attractive A-frame bathhouse, or in one of two open-air tubs with bench seating and roofs for shelter.
